Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.  I think a &quot;free&quot; market is very much what you see today in Social Media: a lot of real quality, a good degree of absolute junk and a massive middle of mediocrity.

I think the stigma of &quot;free&quot; = poor quality has been blunted, but as more people wade in to offer their &#039;wares&#039; there is a danger that free will again take on an appearance of &#039;not worth paying for.&#039;</description>

One of the implicit assumptions that people mistakenly make is that &quot;free&quot; means that there is no good business model. This is thanks in part to the startups that have been giving away their offering for free and were hoping for more eyeballs to show their VCs. Some of these startups probably never spent enough cycles to come up with a good business model.
My concern is this - How will a totally &quot;free&quot; market ensure good quality products?
Products and services can be of high quality only when the people behind them are motivated enough to offer the best &quot;there is&quot; and also (more importantly) want to maximize profit to stay in business.
What are your thoughts on the impact to quality of products if there is a truly &quot;free&quot; market?</description>
